Golfing in Dubai
Nothing more can make you feel like a royal golfer than practicing your
swings in the well-kept lush greens of luxurious golf courses in the desert of
Dubai. Amidst its warm weather and sand dunes, Dubai made itself cosmopolitan
and known to many leisure-looking crowd and sports enthusiasts, such as golfers.
In the 1980’s, the city constructed its first ever golf course good enough to be
an international arena for golfing championships and it still keeps on
developing new golf courses.
Arabian Ranches Club
Hi-tech golfers in the Arabian Ranches would definitely enjoy using the Global
Positioning System (GPS) yardage service installed in every golf cart. It has a
desert style par 72 golf course with 18 holes. It is said to be a true golfer's
dream because every room in the hotel has an overlooking view of the entire golf
course and the lake to refresh anyone before or after any game.
Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club
This is the second world-class championship golf course constructed in Dubai, no
wonder why it is among the most popular and held as one of the most important
gold courses in Dubai. It boasts as having to host sixteen Dubai Desert Classic
Golfing Championships. Since it lies adjacent to Dubai Creek, a historical
landmark, there are also yachting activities available for golfers and guests
alike. Presently, they just finished constructing short game practice facilities.
The Clubhouse would remind anyone familiar with the cities background and
history of its sailing tradition because of its sail-shaped roofs pointing to
the skyline.
Emirates Golf Club
Before the Dubai Creek, There was Emirates Golf Club- the first championship
golf course constructed in Dubai during the 1980’s. It is very popular among
international golfers for its terrific facilities and challenging courses
available for practice or competitive golfing. Also, what makes it stand out is
the traditional design of its clubhouse followed to the designs of Bedouin Tents
making for every guest to recognize that they are indeed in Dubai and golfing in
the Emirates Gold Club. It has two courses- the Majilis and the Wadi courses.
However, the Wadi Golf Course would be close until its reopening in the last
quarter of 2006 after its renovation.
Abu Dhabi Golf Club (more

It has houses two golf courses- The National Course and The Garden Course.
Together, the two courses occupy 162 hectares of land that includes not only
holes for the gold balls, but also ornamental plants, trees, shrubs and even
water lakes. Located only one hour drive from the center of Dubai.
Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa
As notable as the challenge posted by its 18-hole golf course is the sight of
marina and lake embraced at the center of the golf course.
Nad Al Sheba Club
It opened in the early 1990’s and has been gathering praises from visitors. Not
only that it has the only 18-hole floodlit championship courses in the Middle
East, but it also hosts the prestigious world-renowned horse race championship
known as the Dubai World Cup.
The Montgomerie Dubai
It is a traditional golf course that is very similar to that of one would see in
Scotland. Its classic look makes it very popular among European visitors.
